Long-lasting delight – storing apples

Please observe the following tips for storage to ensure your South Tyrolean apples keep their premium quality and great taste.

  • Apples should preferably be stored in a dry and cool place, such as in the cellar, refrigerator or during winter in a covered container outdoors. This ensures long-lasting quality.
  • Do not store apples together with other fruits as other fruits mature more quickly when stored with apples.
  • Shelf life can be extended by using an airtight plastic bag. It prevents drying during storage and also enriches the carbon dioxide exhaled by the apple at the same time. The low-oxygen atmosphere reduces the maturation and aging process of the apple during storage.
  • The apple can be stored for approx. 10 days in a fruit bowl at ambient temperature. It is recommended to cover the apples.
  • Cut apples should be eaten or processed instantly.
