History of fruit-growing

Lana is not only the largest, but also one of the oldest fruit-growing community. And that is why the South Tyrolean fruit-growing museum is located here.

Historic exhibits in historic surroundings: The antique exhibits in the Larchgut residence are made even more impressive by the vaulted ceilings and stucco work. From historic fruit-growing kitchen equipment to limbers and carts from the olden days – the Lana museum offers an interesting and entertaining insight into the history of South Tyrolean fruit-growing.

However, to make fruit-growing the success it is today, first of all pastures of the Etsch/Adige had to be reclaimed. On the ground floor of the residence’s tower models of the pasture landscape and historical maps document this episode of South Tyrolean history. Alternating special exhibitions take place in the baroque hall of the residence.
