Idared
The medium-sized Idared has a yellowish-white to yellowish-green base colour that’s largely complemented by flaming red. Its skin is smooth and very firm, and the crispy pulp is delicately sweet with a fine acidic taste.
Priska Weger, apple farmer from Schenna/
Scena
, about the Idared
The Idared variety is very productive and, especially in Eastern Europe, it’s used as more than just a cooking apple. Otherwise, Idared plays a more modest role for us and has lost some of its popularity over time.
