Store your apples in a cool, dry place: in a cellar or fridge, and in winter cover them outdoors. At room temperature, the shelf life of a fresh South Tyrolean Apple is approximately ten days.

If you want to enjoy the crisp freshness of your apples for longer, simply store a few in the fruit bowl in the living room and put the rest in an airtight container. The reduced oxygen slows down the ripening and aging process and ensures that these juicy, vitamin-packed apples don’t dry out.

Did you know: you should never store your apples together with other fruits, because apples release ethylene during storage, a substance that causes other fruits to ripen more quickly. On the other hand, you can, of course, take advantage of this if you want to speed up the ripening process of other fruits.
