Above a sea of vineyards thrones the Wiesmüllerhof farm in Caldaro/Kaltern. However, it is in no way a conventional farm. Evi and Armin Florian run a riding farm with holiday apartments amid the vineyards and offer an abundance of homemade farm delicacies as well.
Near the edge of the forest, Armin and Evi Florian built Wiesmüllerhof farm about five years ago and fulfilled their life’s dream. They now run, along with their fruit and wine grape farm, a riding farm with holiday apartments. As well as taking care of the guests and the household with two children, 40-year-old Evi gives riding lessons on her own horses. Her husband takes care of the farm property and even has a small excavation company on the side.
Upon entering the farm, two dogs bark their welcome, behind them, chickens clucking. There are rabbits too at Wiesmüllerhof farm and, of course, the eight horses. The Florians’ life is multifaceted: the family produces wine, apple juice and vinegar. “Depending on which variety yields well, the juice tastes different every year,” Evi Florian explains. Naturally, farm-produced honey and eggs from their own hens are never missing from the guests’ breakfast table.
Taking time to live life is a must at Wiesmüllerhof farm. Whether at work on the farm, in the orchard or vineyard or with the guests, there is always something to do. But first of all, the family’s most important ambition is to remain authentic.
